New Year- What is a new year

Every year on 31st Dec night millions of people celebrate new year night by partying and by burning crackers. Crackers are busted at thousands of places to mark the beginning of the new year. Almost all pubs, hotels and restaurants remain full and people throng the all available party spaces to enjoy the beginning of the new calendar year. Little anyone thinks about why we celebrate or what is the significance of the change of date or rather say the change of the year. Some say the new year will bring prosperity and good health and some say the new year will be the best year of their life. But, what actually happens or will happen no one knows.

Well, technically if you see, the new year is nothing but a change of calendar date. It is just the 1st day of the year. In western countries since this is so close to Christmas, which is celebrated on 25th Dec, the celebration becomes even more intense. People celebrate the start of the year with full joy and happiness. People pray for prosperity for all and a peaceful world. But, will this wish bring prosperity or not, no one really cares. More than anything, this holiday time generates a huge revenue for eateries, shopping malls, gift shops etc. So, it has economic significance too.

I believe that merely celebrating new year will not do any good to anyone. Nor will wishing prosperity and happiness. Real change will happen when we will really work on our goals. Real change will happen when we will really give happiness to the needy. Well, the question may arise on how to make that possible? Then there are plenty of ways. Start working on your goal. First, try to achieve your goal. More than anything achieving your own goal gives more satisfaction and will-power to do good to the society. Once, you are convinced that you can actually do something you aspire to, the next all hurdles will become easy. Believe in one thing and put all your efforts to get that. If you can do that that will be the best thing for the new year.

Do something new. Aspire something new. Achieve something new and reach that level. Be it your body, mind or soul. If you start and keep doing that for a certain period of time, body, mind, soul all will be in sync and will aid in your aspirations. So, unless you do something new, the new year is merely a one-day celebration. It is same as the last year and only the date and year has changed.
