Media and Mediocrity...

Media and Mediocrity...

All those glitters are not gold... one of the well-known sayings. On one hand, the meaning is as complex as we try to understand this and on the other, it is as simple as we try to understand it. Whatever we see and hear may be true or partially true with a bigger chunk hidden. And with social media advent, the truth is all hidden and half-truth is everywhere. Generally, we believe what we see, but truth can be deceptive and that is what is happening nowadays. All social media is nothing, but, full of lies and half-truth. And that unimaginably resulted in shorter people's reaction time. Sometimes it feels some people are playing an agenda and we all are puppets. Giving what they really want. Chaos and fear are the two most enablers nowadays. But the question is when we know all these why don't anyone take steps to mitigate those. Who is stopping, or else the media has become mediocre. We made Media mediocre.

Mediocrity is a bane. It can destroy creativity and intelligence in a jiffy. Sometimes it seems the stories we heard, where all famous intellectuals had to face tough time is coming very soon. Sometimes it seems the whole education system is defined in such a way to produce mediocre. It doesn't let a creative mind to climb the ladder and drags it down to a mediocre level. We are taught not to question some basic things. We are taught not to go against basic needs. Is this not what we teach and inculcate in every student? It is no wonder that most of the successful people in the world dropped out from college or school when they found out the spark. They understood that it is not necessary to complete the course and make oneself more mediocre. They believed- I have the spark and idea, let's grow that and find people to seed fund the same. I also wonder what would have happened if those successful people would have completed their course. Would it be a different story then? Would they never took the step they took after dropping out. I firmly believe education should limit itself to basic things, beyond that it should be left for people to choose and grow. The ideas need a factory and free and fair education environment are their farmland.

Same is true for everything. Media should publish positive news first followed by negatives. That will encourage intelligent and talented people to play with ideas. The constructive ideas have the power to make a nation or break a nation. Let's no one say that free and fair media is rare these days.
